Throughout the site I use numerous terms which are somewhat technical in nature. When possible I attempt to avoid academic terms, but on occasion it is necessary to use more technical terms to avoid unnecessary verbosity. This page will contain a growing list of definitions for technical terms to assist anyone unfamiliar with these terms.

  • Five-Point – This refers to a specific position within the determinist camp – oftentimes called the Calvinist camp. Calvinism is known for its belief in TULIP – an acronym standing for: Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, Perseverance of the Saints.
  • Four-Point – This position is the same as above but eliminates the conception of Limited Atonement.
  • Limited Atonement – The belief that Christ’s death was not for all mankind but for all sorts of men. That is, Christ’s death was a sacrifice to redeem men and women from all races, but not necessarily each and every man and woman.
